Imaginations From The Other Side
Imaginations From The Other Side
Vocals
I am not a fan of certain yelling vocals - I find them grating - but he has a good yelling vocal for this style. He has a good singing voice, too. That talking voice makes sense; makes it feel like a tale being told.
Music
I like the beginning of this song. There were some good guitar riffs. Some sections kept my attention more than others, as the songs progressed. I enjoyed the change in the last quarter. The music is just too long. Well, it actually isn't all that long, but it feels like it is! I think I could have this on low if I was playing a cool board game and it worked with the theme, but not just for daily listening. I need to feel like I am seeking out adventure for this to work.
Lyrics
I think this song is talking about that sense of adventure and wonder you feel when you are a child, especially if you had a great imagination. I think it is encouraging you not to give it up as an adult. Which, I agree that adults should still use their imagination and be creative. Enjoy playing a video game, a board game; enjoy reading a book, be a part of a play, create a cool toy, play with a toy. Whatever you like, but just don't fully grow up because that is not fun!
Imaginations from the other side
Far out of nowhere
It got back to my mind
Out of the dark
Back to the light
Then I'll break down
The walls around my heart
Imaginations from the other side
I think this reference to walls is talking about the way we become a part of adult things and can lose our imagination and excitement about things.
Do you know if Merlin did exist
Or Frodo wore the ring
Did Corum kill the gods
Or where's the wonderland
Which young Alice had seen
Or was it just a dream
I knew the answers
Now they're lost for me
There are so many references to different fiction worlds and characters in this song, it is crazy! Before understanding what this was about I thought it was a little much. But since the theme is about embracing your imagination, it makes sense.
