The talking at the start makes it feel like an audio diary, or something very personal. Sometimes, I hate when bands have soft singing, but this singing here just feels so emotional, and I like it contrasted with the broken screaming sound. It feels very painful.
Music
I like the circular nature of the main riff. I feel like there is an atmosphere to this that separates it from other bands in this genre. It has some elements I haven't liked in other bands, but they seem to be used right, in this song. The way it ended and timing made sense.
Lyrics
This song makes me think of how, when you lose someone or something, time can go by and sometimes it can feel like yesterday, and sometimes it can feel like so long ago. You can actually start to question if you actually had the person at all. It hit an emotional spot for me.
An absence persistent
In shades astray, we decay
Blurred by the distance
Twelve years of loss rained down today
What I lost
What I lost
Standing in the plains of gods
Hold still for me
