Jinjer
Micro
Dreadful Moments
Vocals
Several voices here. My favourite one is the most passionate-sounding one, Tatiana's high scream. I like how it was added to the end of softer-sounding part. Made it sound more intense.
There is a slower, softer voice part that doesn't jive as much with me. It took a few listens to make any sense of it. I suppose it is trying to show the desperate but little voice that would be presented as the child tries to get their parent to help in an abusive situation, where unfortunately often a child isn't believed and helped.
Music
Chunky style. I do find this song doesn't have an easy flow to it. The middle part felt disconnected.
Lyrics
I like that the band went here. I know Tatiana is the one who does most of the lyrics writing. This song is clearly about sexual abuse. I heard about this song after hearing the song Retrospection because of the line being reused in it. As well as the implications that some of these lyrics have. It is likely assumed that this is talking about the sexual abuse of Tatiana. Fans say that she denies or at least skirts around directly talking about any personal experience. The truth is boys are also sexually abused. This could be written about any band members experience or an empathetic take on someone else's experience. Sad that any child has to go through this screwed up experience!
Limp footsteps stump to my door
He's coming down the corridor
Tears wash my face I cannot stand
These lessons taught by father's wreakful hand
I read a very painful book about abuse. It is common for adults to tell children that they need to teach them sexual skills. Obviously, often the abuse takes place in the child's own bedroom. So, they cannot feel comfortable in their own bed.
Dreadful moments always last too long
This pain and woe just can't be gone
Dreadful moments always last too long
This pain and woe just can't be gone
I can only imagine what it is like to be the victim of sexual abuse. My heart goes out to anyone that has endured this!
