Vocals

This vocal isn't for me. It is mellow and kind of a mixture of upbeat and sad. I feel like it really has its place in this style.

Music

The guitars have that twangy sound throughout, and then adds some distortion along the way. I feel the music is better than the vocal. I might be able to listen to it on its own and relax into it, in the right moment.

Lyrics

My sister always screwed up the saying that you can't have everything you want. She said, "You can't have anything you want." And so it was an ongoing joke in my family.

I think it is common for humans to want what they can't have. And I think some people are trained that they never get anything they want, and shouldn't want anything. I was brought up with a mother like that. And the apple doesn't fall from the tree in this case.

She's effortlessly cool but circumstances can be cruel
And sometimes you must accept that you can't always get what you want
We fill up our days and nights, we fill up the gaps in our empty little lives
But we know we are doomed, the moment we walk out the room
Waiting, hoping for a sign that what's forbidden can be mine
I just want what I can't have 'til my dreams burn down and choke me every time
