Sodom

Genesis XIX

Indoctrination

I don't know this band enough to know if this is a normal sound for them, but it does feel different from what I have heard. I had to not think about who this was, and just listen to it a few times to get my real thoughts, here.

Vocals

The vocal fits the type of music. It has enough roughness to make sense. I could have done without the chanty part, but it wasn't long. Maybe it is supposed to feel motivational?

Music

The opening sound made it feel like it was going to burst into a punk song (I like some punk, so not a problem for me). I like that they kept a solid pace. There is no doubt that the guitarist is good, but the solo just felt like proof of that, and didn't add or take away too much for me. personally. I think I preferred the second half of it, when the drums picked up. This song feels pretty straightforward for this band.

Lyrics

I feel like it would be hard not to write a song like this in this world. It is basically talking about how humans treat each other and try to get everyone on board, working together towards negative goals, all to support number one. If you don't think this is true, examine the case of the holocaust, or the killing of native peoples. How does something like this occur? I think the lyrics are part of the reason this is making it to my playlist.

Society divided, economy collapsed
Violence and injustice
Maltreated and suppressed
Mind-controlled and brainwashed
Ethical declined, unpredictability
Breaking through the lines

No freedom of speech, human deceit
Mercenary, blasphemy
Social neglect, no regret
Brutalization, intimidation
